Renee and Jeff talk about the responsibilities facing a coach, fear of the unknown, and sitting with discomfort.
Renee illustrates a parallel between climbing and leadership: “I don’t think that you really know unless you try and you have to be okay with falling, in climbing and in a work scenario. When you’re leading a team or helping someone get through something, I think you have to be okay being uncomfortable. You don’t always know where you’re going, you may know where you want to end up, but you don’t necessarily know how to get there. So I think it’s really all about being uncomfortable. That balance is achieved by testing things out and potentially falling. But when you break through, it’s the craziest, most awesome feeling in the world.”
